The 2018 Subaru Love Promise Customer and Community Commitment Award

What is the Subaru Love Promise?

Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

The Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment

We believe in being a positive force in something bigger. And it all starts right here in our community. Not just by our donations, but by our actions.

That's why we stay true to our Love Promise Community Commitment by partnering with a wide variety of community nonprofits and charities.

Every year, we join hands with our owners in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to our community-a community that's given so much to us.

So, every day, we strive to ensure our love is felt not just by our customers, but by all in our community. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do.

We are proud to participate in the Love Promise Community Commitment. We're grateful, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve and support the causes and passions that are closest to our hearts, right here in our neighborhood.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

Love Promise Stories from Colonial Subaru

Colonial Subaru Shares the Love  –  Valerie G

Colonial Subaru Shares the Love

When the holidays come around each year you think to yourself. How do I give back, what can I do to make a difference? There is an influx of volunteers around this time of year. At Colonial Subaru, they make giving back to the community priority all year. The local Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Foodbank is always in need of drivers to volunteer their time to deliver meals for Feedmore. Colonial Subaru takes the time to participate in this rewarding opportunity bi-monthly. Volunteering within the local community is an important part of the culture of their company, Carter Myers Automotive. Feedmore, with the help of Colonial Subaru, makes a big difference in the lives of so many local residents. Unfortunately, there are many people in the area that do not have the means to make themselves nutritious meals. They also do not have much interaction with others, as they do not drive or are immobile. The look on their faces when these meals are delivered by a warm smile is immeasurable. It almost means as much to the volunteers from Colonial Subaru to be making such an impact as it does to the recipients. The intentions of these volunteers are pure, to help these residents with their next meal. They know that they will not be purchasing or servicing a vehicle at their dealership. The fact that they do this on a consistent basis without monetary benefit says a lot about the company. Colonial Subaru has also named Feedmore as their local charity every year since they have been open for the Share The Love program through Subaru during the holidays. Each year donating more than the year before. I'm sure this year will be no exception. We, as a community, are lucky the have Colonial Subaru here in our neighborhood.

For the second year, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) was extremely grateful for Colonial Subaru’s participation in the Loves To Care program. The national initiative, started in 2016, pairs local Subaru retailers with hospitals in their community. This year, Southside Regional Medical Center (SRMC) in Petersburg, VA was the recipient of 80 blankets as well as Messages of Hope written by Subaru customers during the month of June. Penny Nunnally, Oncology Nurse Navigator at SRMC was very appreciative when accepting the delivery on the hospital’s behalf. Valerie Gerbasio of Colonial Subaru spearheaded the effort on the retailer’s end, making sure to collect a total of 80 Care Cards - one for each blanket to be delivered. The local Progress Index Newspaper covered the delivery on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, and published a front-page article the following day.

Subaru Love Promise to MCES  –  Gena L

Subaru Love Promise to MCES

Marguerite Christian Elementary School (MCES) is a Title I school in Chesterfield County. Through Subaru Loves Learning, MCES received cases of exciting Science books that the students in grades 2-5 are enjoying in their classrooms. These books are inspiring a love of learning, and an excitement over new science activities. Our local Subaru (CMA family dealership) has also generously donated their time, and money to the the MCES community. From our "Read Across America" Day (Subaru provided volunteers to read to students) to making water bottles available for our Family Engagement Activities, our local Subaru dealer is very much a part of the MCES family. We are very thankful for Subaru and their genuine dedication to serving their community.

Welcoming Arms  –  Wendy P

Welcoming Arms

River City Bulldog Rescue would like to thank Colonial Subaru for helping us raise money to help English bulldogs throughout Virginia find forever homes. The staff at Colonial Subaru gave us a warm welcome, and it seemed that every staff member who was at the dealership during the event stopped by to support us. Ed Nicol, Kelly Walker, and Shawn Hicks were very accommodating, even offering food to the folks who stopped by to support us. Colonial Subaru even surprised us by saying that they would match our donations for the day, which is a big help and much appreciated. Thank you to everyone at Colonial Subaru for extending a helping hand to local community organizations!

Colonial Subaru Pet Adoption Event  –  Job G

On Saturday February 25th, the Prince George County Adoption Center partnered with Colonial Subaru to host a pet adoption event at the Colonial Subaru dealership. The adoption event featured nine homeless animals looking to find “furever” homes. Colonial Subaru graciously offered to sponsor the adoption fees for every pet adopted that day. When we arrived at the dealership, we were excited to see so many people already waiting inside for a chance to meet and adopt the pets we brought with us. The event was a huge success with all six dogs and three cats finding new homes. Several of the pets we brought had been waiting at the adoption center for months, constantly getting overlooked by potential adopters. It was exciting to see these amazing pets find homes due to the generosity of Colonial Subaru. In fact, one family that arrived late to the event and missed the chance to adopt a pet they had seen online was offered a sponsored adoption at the Adoption Center by Subaru. This was another example of Subaru’s commitment to the well-being of the pets and the people in their community.
